Residential & Industrial Garage Doors
Home »
Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages and may be suitable for a different type of garage. Just as the parameters of the space you want to close with the door can be decisive, your requirements – i.e. those of the garage door users – are also important. To help you find your way around the different types of garage doors, we have prepared a user-friendly specification.

Sectional garage doors
- The door slides under the ceiling
- It can be controlled manually or automatically
- Most used garage doors
The sectional garage door is one of the most popular types ever , which can be found in most garages. The door slides up when opened. Such a mechanism can be a problem for garages with low ceilings. The opening of these doors is facilitated by a motorised drive that can be controlled remotely. However, there are also doors on the market that can be manually pulled open.
The sectional doors themselves greatly range in price. The price depends on the material or design used. However, you should choose the material in particular carefully if you want to ensure a long service life. The quality of the garage door will be indicated by the warranty, which is guaranteed by the manufacturer directly in the contract. For example, for Sparxwizz doors it is 10 years.
Advantages and disadvantages
- High-quality thermal insulation
- Minimal space requirements
- Security against accidents and burglary
- In low garages, they take up space under the ceiling
- Higher purchase price on selected models

Sliding Garage Doors
Sliding doors, unlike sectional doors, do not go under the ceiling but into the side of the garage. This design ensures a long service life and high operational efficiency – if you want to enter the garage, you only need to open the door slightly.
- The door slides sideways
- It can be controlled manually or automatically
- Possibility of just a partial opening
Sliding doors are virtually maintenance-free and easy to control. Being able to open it only part way will not only provide more warmth in the garage but also more convenience if the door serves as your only entrance to the house. However, unlike sectional doors, they take up space on the vertical wall of the garage as they run sideways on the rails. Thus, there can be no windows or shelves on this side of the garage.
Advantages and disadvantages
- High-quality thermal insulation
- Suitable also as a replacement for the entrance to the house
- The door does not reduce the passage height of the door opening
- During installation, emphasis is put on the flatness of the walls and floor
Rolling Garage Doors
- Space-saving
- Can be controlled manually or automatically
- Space-saving solution
This door rolls up the rails into the box above. This way they don’t take up the entire ceiling of the garage and you can use that space to hang other things, like skis. The advantage is that their installation does not require major building modifications. You just need to decide whether you want the door to roll into the box or not. The aluminium box can be placed both on the inside and outside of the garage or directly in the opening.
You can choose from two control options – manual drive or electric drive.
Advantages and disadvantages
- Cost-effective solution
- Low failure rate
- Security against accidents and break-ins
- Long warranty
- Installation with no box is not suitable for dusty garage

Double-leaf Garage Doors
- Czech classic with inward and outward opening
- Suitable for new buildings and renovations
- Wide full opening angle
Our grandparents used to drive their Ladas and Skodas into the garage through double-leaf doors. However, they are still popular today. Their advantage is versatility, simplicity and the possibility to use them both in new buildings and in reconstructions. You can choose the door to open inwards or outwards, with the handle on the right or left side.
The disadvantage may be that they need space to open their wings. These doors are therefore not suitable for garages, for example, which open directly onto the road. Also, the insulation properties of double-leaf doors are not among the best. They are therefore particularly suitable for unheated and partially heated spaces.

Technical parameters of double-leaf garage doors
Building readiness and fittings
Every double-leaf door is made to measure, so you don’t have to deal with missing or extra inches. With options of inward and outward opening, the door adapts to even the smallest spaces.
Thermal insulation
Double-leaf garage doors do not have an interrupted thermal bridge, so they are more suitable for unheated or partially heated areas. If you also have a workshop in your garage and spend a lot of time there, we recommend sectional or rolling doors.
Simple control
Double-leaf doors are manually controlled. Each door is made to measure, you can choose the grip on the right or left side. It also depends on you and the space in your garage whether the door opens outwards or inwards. The maximum opening angle is always 180°.
